Elize Ryd
Elize Ryd (born October 15, 1984, full name Hanna Elise Isabella Maj Höstblomma Ryd) is a Swedish singer and the frontwoman of the band Amaranthe.
Elize came into contact with rock and metal music at a young age. She made her debut as a guest singer in the power metal band Falconer. Elize met Jake E. Lundberg (former singer of Amaranthe) and Olof Mörck (guitar) at Cabaret Lorensberg in Gothenburg. A short time later, after graduating from Gothenburg's Performing Art School in 2007, she joined one of their music projects, which was named Avalanche. The band was renamed Amaranthe in 2009.
Guest appearances with Kamelot and Nightwish
Elize has often performed on stage with other bands throughout her career - including as a touring singer in the melodic power metal band Kamelot, which features Oliver Polotai (husband of Simone Simons) on keyboards.
Her guest appearance with Nightwish in Denver (USA) in December 2013 became very well known. When the band's singer at the time, Anette Olzon, was unable to perform due to illness, Elize and Alissa White-Gluz stepped in at short notice. The two singers stood on stage with printouts of the lyrics - and thus also found their way into the Nightwish documentary "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours". This evening also marked the end of Anette's time with Nightwish and the start of the new era with Floor Jansen.
