“Cradle to the Grave”, the fourth single from the album ‘Vermillion’, captures the universal experiences of life: The constant ups and downs and the search for meaning and purpose. Together with Arjen Lucassen, Simone has created a track that portrays human existence as an act of struggle and resilience. “Despite all efforts to build and achieve something, life remains short, finite and often cruel,” the two artists comment.

Simone brought none other than Alissa White-Gluz, frontwoman of Arch Enemy, on board for the song.

15 years of patience

Why did it take so long for this solo album to see the light of day? Simone openly admits: “Epica is my priority, and I always have the freedom to pursue other musical projects alongside my career with Epica. But I've never had the time to devote so much time to one project.” This patience has paid off, as “Vermillion” is an album that reflects her entire musical journey - from prog rock and film scores to metal and electronic elements.

Simone does not reinvent herself

Many artists use their solo projects to completely reinvent themselves, but not Simone. She remains true to her love of epic melodies, powerful choirs and intelligent music. Together with her longtime companion Arjen Lucassen, she has created a sonic universe that does justice to her voice and further cements her status as an influential figure in the metal scene.

“Vermillion” is more than just a solo album - it's a musical statement that celebrates Simone's extraordinary career and showcases her many facets as an artist. A must for any fan of epic, monumental music.
